I'm so excited! I'll be an aunt for the first time. My sister called to tell us the good news today. I'm surprised though because she was always talking about everything she wanted to do before she had a baby. I guess she decided this is the most exciting thing! She was ecstatic about the pregnancy, obviously, but she told me her doctor discovered she has gestational diabetes. I asked her what that was and she explained. It developed as a result of the pregnancy and then she described exactly how and why that occurs. I didn't know that could happen! She was surprised about it too but she said the doctor is taking good care of her and explaining what she can do. She's trying not to let it distract her too much. We didn't dwell on that topic for too long. We jumped right into whether she wants to know if it's a boy or girl and what names she's thinking about calling the baby. I definitely wasn't running short on any suggestions! She's leaning toward the name Jacob if it's a boy and Megan if it's a girl, although I joked that I'm partial to my own name. Overall she seemed to be in really good spirits and I'm excited to see how she progresses from month to month!
